May these pages portray our desire to have "a walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God." Colossians 1:10

Cop Car Tuesday

Protected on the Road!!
The hand of the Lord is truly surrounding me!
On Tuesday I got to sit in the patrol car of an RCMP!
I got to watch a tow truck flip over a dual cab, 1 ton truck!
...On the road on a rainy day....

I was making a left hand turn from a stop sign onto a small highway and the oncoming car panicked because he thought I wasn't going to complete me turn. He didn't slow down at all when he saw me, but maintained his speed and thought he would pass me in MY lane, since he assumed I was going so slow that I would obstruct HIS lane. He didn't realize that what he was really doing was putting himself directly in my path so I couldn't complete my turn. I had plenty of time to get across his lane and into mine...as evidenced by the fact that I was halfway into my lane when I noticed he was heading right for me.

I stopped, since proceeding with my turn would have had us head on colliding..he had to swerve around my nose once I stopped, since I had gotten farther into my lane than he thought...a misjudgment on his part...and would have been able to correct his turn, had not the road been wet and had he not hit a gravel spot which caused him to fishtail, jump the ditch, hit a fence and land upside down.

I watched that happen in my rear-view mirror, so i turned around and went to see him get out of the vehicle after the roof collapsed...he walked up, in shock, but with no visible injuries exept his thumb which was cut in breaking the window of the car in order to get out.

I approache him and asked if was okay...I learned he was a foreman for the local Oil Company..."Well, the truck is a write off..." he told me. "I guess if I had kept going straight, I would have missed you altogether." he said. It was around 8:30 in the morning and he said he had been drinking his coffee and his car was in cruise control. For a minute, we stood silently side by side, in the rain, staring at the upside down truck, getting soaked. A man in a truck stopped by and made a call for us to 911. The RCMP arrived shortly, as well as some other oil field workers. There were no witnesses to the event.

I was befuddled, wondering if I had really caused the accident. It seemed that he had put us both in danger by anticipating my actions wrongly. Of course, it is technically my fault as the left hand turner, regardless. I could have waited an extra 40 seconds at the stop sign before making my turn.

End of story: I am given the traffic violation for "not proceeding safely through an intersection" because he had the right of way. (a nice hefty bill to add to my list of expenses this summer) I am also late to my meeting in Calgary...and I cry on the way. But God gives peace and uses all things to grow me best! He wants me to trust in Him to provide for me, not my stored up bank account...or my sense of being a good driver, etc. He wants me to seek his counsel in all areas...and I am learning so much!

I have learned that anticipating how the other car will interpret your movements is an important factor in safe driving. I now have a fonder appreciation for going 55 miles an hour and being very conscientous behind the wheel! God sometimes has to make his message blatant in order for me to hear it!

Visiting Olds
I got to visit my GoodSeed buddies in Olds...Steven and I had such a nice visit and celebrating Andres Crosses' birthday! It was certainly a lot of fun. I thank God for such good friends!

Welcome to Linden!
Linden is the small town in which Steven works! We are looking to rent a mobile home or something comparable in town. We are also looking to find a place for our horses to stay while we are living there. You can keep praying for this opportunity if you want! God has already given us a great lead on a mobile home. The lady who owns it is a good friend of the lady who is doing our pictures for the wedding! I'm still investigating that.

Isn't that nifty!

All for now!

Go in Peace, Patti
